Cessna Citation
Michael has recently started flying a Cessna Citation (CE-501) as a second-in-command on a contract basis. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT15D turbofans producing 2,200 lbs of thrust each, this multi-engine jet aircraft cruises at 411 mph and has a ceiling of 41,000 feet.
SR22TN G3
This single engine, fixed gear luxury aircraft is powered by a twin turbo-normalized Continental IO-550-N engine rated at 310 horsepower. This aircraft will comfortably cruise at FL180 at 190 KTAS, with a ceiling of 25,000 feet.
PA-44 - Piper Seminole
UVU purchased Piper PA-44's to replace the DA-42's late in Michael's training. Designed without digital engine controls, the PA-44 is cheaper to maintain than the DA-42, but still carries the Garmin G1000 avionics system. Without digital engine controls, Michael had to balance 6 levers for 2 engines, greatly increasing his ability to multi-task and handle high workload situations while in the air. Michael earned is multi-engine commercial license after logging 26 hours in this aircraft.
DA-42 NG - Twin Star
Powered by two full FADEC Austro Engine E4-B turbo diesel engines, this was the first multi-engine plane Michael flew. He earned is private multi-engine license in the DA-42 NG. Michael logged roughly 19 hours during training and still regards this plane as one of his favorites.
DA-40 - Diamond Star
The first plane Michael flew with the Garmin G1000 avionics system, this 4-seat 180 horsepower aircraft is a wonderful IFR training platform. Michael has logged over 90 hours in this plane during training, and earned his instrument rating, single-engine commerical license, and his certified flight instructor certificate in this aircraft.
DA-20 - Katana
This 2-seat 125 horsepower airplane is becoming a popular training platform. With old school "steam gauges" and no GPS, the variant Michael flew forces the pilot to fully comprehend various navigation sources to stay on track. Michael logged 20 hours in this aircraft during the first half of his single-engine commerical training.
Cessna 172
The most popular aircraft of all time, Michael completed his private pilot training in the Cessna 172 'Skyhawk', logging roughly 55 hours in the plane, while taking his checkride at 42 hours.
